Scent of the Beginning

庭師の恋

Once upon a time, there was an old house that no one lived in.

One day, a traveler passed by this old house and found a flower in the garden. It was a beautiful flower, but it seemed to be wilting.

The traveler felt sorry for the flower and watered it. Gradually, the flower seemed to have regained some life. The traveler was so happy that he put his face close to the flower. It smelled delightful. Suddenly, a wind blew, and a petal fell on his lips. The traveler thought it was going to be a wonderful day.

Since he was a child, the traveler was always conscious of others. In order to please others, he would put his own feelings on the back burner. These “others” could be his parents, his friends, or his loved ones. As he tried to please more and more people, the traveler realized that his place in the world is getting smaller and smaller. Finally, the traveler began to wish to go far away, where “others” didn’t exist.

The moment something begins, it is also a moment for something to end. The moment the traveler touched the flower, he was no longer a traveler.
